The 2027 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia opened with a ceremony that introduced the logo, theme and mascot — the first public beat of Malaysia’s path to hosting Southeast Asia’s largest biennial Games next year.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), through the Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC) 2027 secretariat, launched the official identity of the 34th SEA Games and 14th ASEAN Para Games at a symbolic ceremony in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, on 13 July.
Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohamed Taufiq Johari officiated. The launch did more than introduce a new look for the Games: it signalled that Malaysia is ready to welcome the region’s best athletes.
TUAH is the official mascot — a modern hero who is dynamic, confident and friendly, and who stands for a new generation of Malaysians who push limits, stay positive and competitive, and treat diversity as strength.
The name TUAH is loaded with meaning. It stands for success, excellence and good fortune that do not arrive by chance, but are forged through effort, discipline, persistence, loyalty and unity.
More than a mascot, TUAH is held up as a symbol of togetherness that the organisers want to carry through the 34th SEA Games and 14th ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia.
The theme Raikan Perpaduan, or “Celebrating Unity”, is the pulse of the Malaysia 2027 identity. It says the real strength of Malaysia and ASEAN is the ability to stand together even when people come from different backgrounds, cultures and abilities.
With the logo, theme and TUAH now public, Malaysia 2027 is no longer only waiting for the Games to begin. It has already lit the torch of unity to bring athletes, supporters and the public onto one regional sports stage.
