Marketing & Partnerships

Brand platform, illustrative partnership pathways, campaign ideas and compliance expectations for ethical storytelling around SEA Games 2027 Malaysia.

Last updated · 8 August 2026

1. Marketing overview

This Marketing page describes how brands, tourism boards, broadcasters, NGOs and technology partners can engage with the SEA Games 2027 Malaysia digital experience (seagamesmalaysia2027.org) and the broader storytelling around Celebrating Unity · Raikan Perpaduan.

Official commercial rights for the 34th SEA Games (title sponsorship, category exclusivity, on-site branding, broadcast sponsorship) are controlled by authorised organising and rights-holding entities (including SEAGF frameworks and MASOC commercial programmes). This Site can support awareness, fan education and partner storytelling — but does not by itself sell exclusive Games-wide sponsorship packages.

We welcome ethical, inclusive campaigns that celebrate Southeast Asian sport, culture and youth — and we reject ambush marketing that misleads fans about official status.

2. Brand platform

2.1 Positioning

Malaysia 2027 presents the SEA Games as a multi-city celebration of unity: Opening energy in Sarawak, precision and heritage in Penang, football passion in Johor, and capital spectacle in Kuala Lumpur. The motto Celebrating Unity / Raikan Perpaduan anchors bilingual storytelling.

2.2 Visual system (digital experience)

  • Primary blue: #0037AA (deep authority, maritime & national resonance).
  • Deep blue: #0037AA (night heroes, footer and immersive sections).
  • Gold: #FFCD00 (victory, ceremony, CTAs).
  • Red accent: #EC1E25 (energy, alerts, national warmth).
  • Typography: display headlines for ceremony moments; clean sans for UI and long-form legal/support.
  • Motion: purposeful reveals, liquid-metal CTAs, cluster-specific backgrounds — never motion for its own sake on critical forms.

2.3 Voice & tone

  • Proud but welcoming — host energy without exclusion.
  • Bilingual where it matters (English + Bahasa Malaysia).
  • Fact-forward on dates, clusters and accessibility; poetic on ceremony and culture.
  • Never invent medal results or official sales deadlines.

2.4 Brand do’s and don’ts

  • Do: credit host states and communities; use inclusive imagery of women, men, youth and Para pathways where relevant.
  • Do: link fans to accessibility and spectator guidance.
  • Don’t: imply your brand is a “title sponsor” or “official partner” without written rights.
  • Don’t: alter official marks, mascots or SEAGF emblems beyond licensed artwork.
  • Don’t: run fake giveaways requiring payment that mimic ticket sales.

3. Audiences & moments

Primary digital audiences for this experience include:

  • Fans planning multi-city trips (18–29 September 2027).
  • Families discovering new sports (sepak takraw, wushu, aquatics).
  • Youth and esports-curious spectators.
  • Domestic tourism and ASEAN travellers.
  • Media, creators and NOC content teams seeking accurate narrative frames.
  • Volunteers and prospective workforce.

3.1 Always-on vs peak moments

  • Always-on: host-city education, sports catalogue, sustainability and volunteer narratives.
  • Peak: 100-day countdown, ticket launch windows (when official), Opening week, football finals, Closing night.
  • Post-Games: legacy stories, tourism continuations, athlete pathways — subject to rights.

4. Partnership pathways (illustrative)

The following tiers describe how partners might collaborate with the digital experience. They are illustrative for planning conversations — not a public rate card. Official Games sponsorship tiers remain with authorised commercial agents.

4.1 Awareness partner

  • Co-branded content modules on News or Media hub (clearly labelled).
  • Social amplification packs using licensed stills from our gallery where rights allow.
  • Inclusion in a digital partner directory (future feature).

4.2 Experience partner

  • Branded spectator tips or cluster travel guides reviewed for accuracy.
  • Support for fan-zone storytelling templates (Remotion) under brand guidelines.
  • Limited on-site digital activation concepts co-designed with host cities.

4.3 Technology / innovation partner

  • Case studies on accessibility, transport, heat-health or cashless journeys.
  • Sandbox integrations (API, widgets) under separate data processing agreements.
  • Joint demos at innovation showcases — no exclusive claim on “official tech of the Games” without rights.

4.4 Destination / tourism partner

  • Cluster landing narratives (food, culture, stay) linked from Cities pages.
  • Itinerary PDFs or interactive maps with clear tourism-board authorship.
  • Post-session city experiences that keep visitors longer — measured ethically.

5. Campaign opportunities

  • Road to 2027 — athlete pathway features with NOC permission.
  • Four clusters, one heart — tourism series.
  • Unity playlist — music and cultural partners for ceremony-adjacent storytelling (not the official ceremony soundtrack unless licensed).
  • Green Games habits — sustainability challenges for fans (transport, refill, digital tickets).
  • Women in SEA sport — editorial series with verified athletes and federations.
  • Volunteer heroes — recruitment drives by state.
  • Esports & traditional sports — dual narrative of heritage and future.

6. Asset & toolkit requests

Partners may request:

  • Digital colour tokens and UI motion references from this Site (for co-branded web modules we host).
  • Approved lockup usage rules for “Celebrating Unity” bilingual lines (subject to rights clearance).
  • Remotion composition templates for non-commercial previews (see Media hub).
  • High-resolution maps of host clusters (illustrative; not cadastral).

6.1 What we will not provide without rights holders

  • Official SEAGF or OCM emblem files for merchandise.
  • Athlete image likeness for ads without athlete/NOC consent.
  • Broadcast footage or clean feeds.
  • Ticket stock or barcode generators.

7. Marketing compliance

All campaigns associated with this Site must comply with:

  • Malaysian advertising and consumer protection rules (truthful claims, clear pricing if selling).
  • PDPA when collecting leads — privacy notice, purpose limitation, opt-out for marketing email.
  • Intellectual property and personality rights.
  • Anti-ambush guidelines: no false “official partner” claims; no trademark cluttering that confuses Games marks.
  • Respect for cultural and religious sensitivities across ASEAN audiences.
  • Responsible alcohol/gambling advertising restrictions where applicable.
  • Children’s marketing standards if targeting under-18 audiences.

8. Measurement & reporting

Where we run co-branded modules on this Site, we can share aggregated metrics such as page views, scroll depth, video play rates and outbound clicks — not personal data of individual visitors without a lawful basis.

UTM discipline: use campaign, source, medium consistently. Avoid embedding secrets in query strings.

Brand-lift studies or surveys require separate ethics and privacy review.
