Aiman Amri’s design becomes the Malaysia 2027 logo

2026-09-09

The 23-year-old UiTM animation graduate won the official logo and mascot contest — RM8,000 — when the identity was launched in Putrajaya on 13 July 2026.

The official logo of the 34th SEA Games and 14th ASEAN Para Games is the work of Aiman Amri, 23, a Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Diploma in Animation graduate who is now studying a Graphic Design degree part-time. Aiman took first place in the Official Logo and Mascot Design Competition — his first entry — and received RM8,000 at the Malaysia 2027 identity launch at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, on 13 July. Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohamed Taufiq Johari officiated. Second place received RM5,000 and third place RM3,000. The idea for the mark came from the year 2027. Aiman saw that the numerals could be shaped into a hornbill, and at the same time read as an athlete in motion. “I was inspired by the figure 2027 itself, because I could see that number formed into a hornbill, as well as giving the picture of an athlete on the move,” he said. The lines of the logo form Angka 27, the year Malaysia hosts. The Bunga Raya on the mark is the national flower — unity, harmony, courage and national spirit — and its place on the lockup presents Malaysia as a country that welcomes the ASEAN community. Finishing the design took almost two months. Aiman worked through the sketches before submitting one logo and one mascot. The win opens a new page in his work as a designer. Part of the prize will be put aside; the first thing he wants to do is take his family to dinner, as thanks.
